Industrial Perfumes :

Industrial Perfumes was set up in as 50-50 Joint venture between the Tata Group and the premier French Perfumery house Roure Bertrand Dupont ( RBD ) of Paris and Grasse to manufacture world class Fragrance Compounds and Aroma Chemicals in India. In 1964 RBD was acquired by the Hoffman la Roche group of Basel, Switzerland.

RBD deputed one of their seniormost Perfumers Mr Yuri G Gutsatz as the first Managing Director of IP. He created some classic fragrances which even today are best sellers. To quote the Fashion Daily News, “Yuri Gutsatz aime la nature. Avec passion.” This translates to “ Yuri Gutsatz loves nature. With passion “, something that is obvious even today as the octagenarian Mr Gutsatz continues to create exclusive natural fragrances from his Paris studio ‘ Le Jardin Retrouve ’ Yuri Gutsatz unique creativity flows through IP fragrances developed over the years as Perfumers were trained in the Grasse Perfumery Training Centre of RBD. As Mme Simone Tata grew the Lakme business, fragrances for the toiletries range were all developed by IP.

IP has a wide range of fragrances for toiletries, agarbattis and many other products, some bestsellers being KEORA 61,JASMIN 300,ROSE WRD, etc.all sold through its wide all India distribution network.

In the mid 1990s TOMCO was merged into Hindustan Lever, and soon thereafter IP lost its corporate identity, joining the Unilever global group, as part of Hindustan Lever Ltd.

With effect from April 1, 2004 the Fragrance business of Industrial Perfumes was purchased from Hindustan Lever Ltd by Goldfield Fragrances . When informed of this development, Yuri Gutsatz was overjoyed. His reaction : “ I am very happy that my baby Industrial Perfumes is now back as part of a global Fragrance company. I wish all success to everybody at Goldfield in growing the IP fragrance business. “
